Hero Backstory:
While being but only a small avian creature, the mythical cockatrice is not to be scoffed at. Not particularly intelligent and normally indifferent to the causes of other species, the agile and deadly cockatrice has sided with the legion to protect its lands. A cockatrice normally has a very unpleasant demeanor, even more so when the Hellbourne come marching though its territory. The creature has magical properties, including the ability to turn its enemy into stone, to either escape its foe or pin its prey down. Base Attack Type

Role Notes:
The cockatrice should play as a ganker / initiator hero. With its high int gain and armor buffing ability it has the potential of having decent survivial will disableing the enemy. It's very long stun (up to 5 seconds) and a powerful ultimate that can severely disable a target. The AoE buff removal would also be a powerful tool against teams that rely on auras and buffs such as blacksmiths frenzy.

The cockatrice stares down his foe with its powerful gaze, locking eyes, and immobilizes them for the duration of the stare. Targeted unit takes 1 second to unfreeze. The cockatrice is immobilized while he stares, but can break it when it chooses.Skill Type: Stun (no damage)

Level 1: 400 range channeled stun, target must be facing cockatrice at least 45 degrees. Stuns target and immobilizes cockatrice for 1 second. Target takes additional 1 second to recover.
Level 2: 550 range channeled stun, target must be facing cockatrice at least 45 degrees. Stuns target and immobilizes cockatrice for 2 seconds. Target takes additional 1 second to recover.
Level 3: 700 range channeled stun, target must be facing cockatrice at least 45 degrees. Stuns target and immobilizes cockatrice for 3 seconds. Target takes additional 1 second to recover.
Level 4: 900 range channeled stun, target must be facing cockatrice at least 45 degrees. Stuns target and immobilizes cockatrice for 4 seconds. Target takes additional 1 second to recover.
Notes: Here's what I was going for when designing this skill. The cockatrice must stare down his target, which means he must be in front of the enemy, so a fleeing enemy is immune to the stun as long as he keeps his back turned to the cockatrice. To balance this, the stun lasts for a long duration and has a long range but does no damage. So at level 4, the cockatrice can hold down an opponent for 5 seconds total, but has to stand in place to continue the stun unless the player chooses to break it off early. The person frozen takes an additional 1 second to unfreeze, allowing the cockatrice to either attack it while stunned or flee. This skill is a major part of his ganking and initiating role.
Visuals: I think it would be cool if the target would start to turn grey and have a stony like texture applied while under the duration of the stun. Maybe have the cockatrices eye glow bright.

The cockatrice has the magical ability to transmogrify its scales and feathers into stone. The stony exterior protects the cockatrice from his attackers but weighs it down and slows its speed.Skill Type: speed increase/armor decrease, armor increase/speed decrease
Mana Cost: 10 mana a second while activated. (works similar to morphlings from DOTA's “morph”)
Level 1: Lose .5 armor for 1% movement speed increase / gain 1% movement speed for .5 armor loss.
Level 2: Lose 1 armor for 2% movement speed increase / gain 2% movement speed for 1 armor loss.
Level 3: Lose 1.5 armor for 3% movement speed increase / gain 3% movement speed for 1.5 armor loss.
Level 4: Lose 2 armor for 4% movement speed increase / gain 4% movement speed for 2 armor loss.
Notes: I really like the concept of reducing armor for movement speed. You have pros and cons. This would be great from running from a nuker since armor doesn’t matter. However, you could raise your armor if your about to go face to face with another hero. The speed increase would only get up to the max movement speed.I would suggest a maximum amount of movement speed reduction allowed by the hero himself, as to avoid anything retarded such as 200 armor and a 400% movement speed reduction. This skill would also allow the cockatrice to cut off fleeing enemies and use his stone gaze OR to activate the armor increase before he does his stone gaze, incase he is attacked by the other team while he attempts to hold one down.
I also like the idea of a really fast running rooster/lizard thing zooming around real fast.

The cockatrice has the ability to nullify the magical trinkets and spells of its foes, trivializing all but the most powerful magic.Skill Type: AoE debuff
Mana Cost: 100 (all levels)
Cooldown:15/18/21/25 seconds
Range: 400/500/600/700 at all levels.
AoE Radius: 250/300/350/400
Duration: 5/8/12/18 seconds
Level 1: Removes all buffs of all enemy units in the AoE. All units affected by Nullify are immune to friendly buffs and auras for 5 seconds.
Level 2: Removes all buffs of all enemy units in the AoE. All units affected by Nullify are immune to friendly buffs and auras for 10 seconds.
Level 3: Removes all buffs of all enemy units in the AoE. All units affected by Nullify are immune to friendly buffs and auras for 15 seconds.
Level 4: Removes all buffs of all enemy units in the AoE. All units affected by Nullify are immune to friendly buffs and auras for 20 seconds. Destroys all summoned units.
Notes: I think this would be a good edition to the game. It's a disable but not a real disable, equalizing the battlefield or giving your team an advantage. I want the AoE size to be like Defilers silence AoE size.
Visual: I’d think a cool effect would be a quick distortion, sort of like Chronos’ bubble, but a quick flash.

The breath of cockatrice is said to be able to kill any creature in Newerth. Although not able to outright kill, the toxic vapors exhaled by the cockatrice can severely disable and blind those afflicted.Skill Type: AoE Debuff Nuke

Level 1: Deals 75 damage, blinds target, lowers movement speed 20%, lowers attack speed 30%
Level 2: Deals 150 damage, blinds target, lowers movement speed 30%, lowers attack speed 40%
Level 3: Deals 250 damage, blinds target, lowers movement speed 40%, lowers attack speed 50%
Notes: By blind I mean the same effect as dark lady, you lose sight of your allies shared vision and are limited to things right around you. This skill would either be used as a way of taking a enemy hero out of fight, or picking off a hero for a kill, while you alone or with team mates attack the slowed and blind target. I envision the player using this hero would first use stoney gaze, then close the distance and use deblitiating breath. Then when the enemy uses a spell or item to try to help or escape, the player can use nulify to prevent it.
Visual: I’m thinking a purple mist or cloud, quickly exhaled and quickly dissipating. The unit afflicted should have purple overlay on there screen, and should tinted so others know he is debuffed.
